Grangefield Cottage, situated in the heart of the Northern Lakes, is an ideal place from which to explore. This tastefully furnished holiday cottage, attached to a lovely stone-built country house offers an excellent base for a quiet and peaceful stay.

From Grangefield Cottage, Skiddaw rises to 3000ft across the Derwent Valley. The popular Lakeland town of Keswick is only four miles away, Bassenthwaite, the most northerly of the lakes, only one mile. Grangefield Cottage is sheltered from behind by Thornthwaite forest with its numerous forest walks and wildlife.

Grangefield Cottage is maintained by the owners to the highest standards ensuring that you fully enjoy your stay in this magnificent Lakeland setting.

We will be here to welcome you and to deal with any requests which may arise. The cottage, which is open all year, is available from 3pm on the day of arrival until 10am on the day of departure.

The accommodation comprises:

GROUND FLOOR - Entrance through French doors to a comfortable living room with Fastext colour television, CD and stereo radio/cassette. There are superb views over the garden and Skiddaw beyond. Kitchen with breakfast bar and plenty of good quality cooking equipment, including electric cooker and microwave.

FIRST FLOOR - Large double bedroom with delightful beamed and gabled ceiling, and again uninterrupted views towards Skiddaw. En suite shower room with Aqualisa shower, electric towel rail, shaver point, wash basin and toilet.

The cottage is fully carpeted and is heated throughout by night-storage heaters. Hot water, heating, bed linen, towels and tea towels are included.

Additional drying facilities for outdoor clothing are available on request, as are an iron and ironing board.

There is ample parking in the grounds.

Smoking is NOT permitted on the premises.

Pets are not allowed.

Thornthwaite is an excellent centre from which to explore the Lake District on foot, by car, by bus or even by boat on Derwentwater. Attractions in or near Keswick include:

• Bowls, tennis, pitch & putt
• Castlerigg Stone Circle
• Whinlatter Forest Centre with various trails

Other lakes, notably Buttermere, Crummock Water and Thirlmere are within a short drive.

The fells offer a lot of good hill walking for those with the energy and the appropriate footwear, anoraks and maps.
