We are Joan and Roger Lupton. Our philosophy has always been to provide the basis for a memorable holiday with cottages full of charm, a high standard of cleanliness and quality furnishings.

We take a personal interest in our properties and aim to ensure that they all feel like home to our guests. Our cottages are inspected and graded by the English Tourist Board and although facilities vary from one to another, their quality is consistantly high.

All include bedding and bed linen, fitted carpets, central heating, colour television and fully fitted kitchens including fridge-freezers, microwaves, crockery and tea towels. Each cottage has its own patio or garden area for sun bathing (yes, we do get sun in The Lakes!) and somewhere to park the car. A welcome pack of necessities - milk, tea, coffee etc. is also provided.

There is access to a utility room with washer, tumble dryer, drying facilities and iron and ironing board. The majority of the cottages have membership of the Cascades Health Club with free use of the swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and gym - weekdays only. Also available at members prices are Turkish Baths, squash courts, table tennis, beautician and massage.

The Coniston area is ideal for those seeking to escape the hustle and bustle of the better known tourist destinations. Both the lake and the mountains beckon - on the one hand there are mountain and fell walks and on the other, water sports and tranquil lake shore ambles. Nature's colours are for ever changing and every season has a special appeal.

Coniston itself has many interesting places to visit. High in the fells are the raison d'etre of Coniston - the copper mines and slate quarries. John Ruskin, the famous philosopher, poet and artist had his home, Brantwood on the lake shore and many of Arthur Ransome's locations are to be found in the area. For the more active amongst us, horse riding and mountain biking offer alternative forms of transport to the car.
