A warm and friendly welcome awaits you at the Lakeside.

Lakeside Guesthouse is situated just off the A66 overlooking the picturesque northern Lake Bassenthwaite in the quieter part of the Lake District National Park. In between the towns of Keswick and the old Georgian town of Cockermouth, the birthplace of the poet William Wordsworth.

A peaceful location for the serious walker and within walking diatance of a bird reserve, nature trails, forest walks, golf, fishing and situated near the Bassenthwaite Sailing Club, convenient for the enthusiastic sailor, or you can relax in our pleasant lounge with a good book.

The house has panelled oak floors with eight comfortably furnished bedrooms (seven en suite), each offering a colour television, radio alarm, hairdryer, shoe cleaning and tea/coffee making facilities.

Two of the rooms are more spacious with Lake Views; the smaller eighth room also has a lake view and it's own allocated bathroom. Guests have access to their own bedroom at all times.

The pleasant lounge overlooks the lake; there you can relax, read or browse through the local information. Car parking is available within the grounds.

The Northern Lakes are generally uncrowded, yet a short drive will take you to the Lakes town of Keswick where you can discover how they get lead into the famous Cumberland pencils or just a short drive west is the Georgian market town of Cockermouth, or a 10 minute drive to the glorious Cumbrian valleys, mountains and passes where you will see a landscape that changes with every turn in the road.

With the dramatic contrast of Lakes Derwent Water, Crummock Water and Buttermere into the Lorton Vale, a beautiful valley, then onto the Lakes of Windermere, Thirlmere and Ullswater, each with its own characteristic charm, reflecting the splendour of the surrounding mountains.

Visit the world of Beatrix Potter. Take a trip west for an educational visit to the BNFL Visitors Centre at Sellafield, to Muncaster Castle or to Ravenglass, where you can board the L'al Ratty, England's oldest narrow gauge steam railway. Transporting you through some of the most glorious landscape in Britain. The Eskdale Valley, where the gradients are 1 in 35. The remainder of the National Park, Hadrians Wall and the Scottish borders are all easily accessible for a day's visit. You will fall in love with it here. Every season has its own beauty and appeal.
