Birkshaw Farmhouse Cottage is situated in lovely countryside with extensive views of the South Tyne Valley and North Pennines. Built in traditional stone, it lies 2 miles south of the Roman Wall, 1 mile north of Bardon Mill and is situated on the edge of the picturesque Northumberland National Park.

The village of Bardon Mill has a small hotel and a general store. The nearest shops are 4 miles away in Haydon Bridge to the East and in Haltwhistle to the West. There is also rail and bus transport to Newcastle and Carlisle within 1 mile of the cottage.

The cottage was converted from a barn which formed part of the original farm buildings. It includes:

Beamed lounge/dining room with colour television Two bedrooms - one with double bed and the other with bunk beds Toilet/shower room Kitchen with electric cooker, fridge and microwave oven

The bedrooms have oil filled electric radiators and the main room is heated by calor gas which is included in the price. There are electric fires, if required. The electricity is supplied by a one UK pound meter. Bed linen can be supplied on request, but towels are not supplied. Visitors have the use of an automatic washer drier in an out-house attached to the farmhouse.

The cottage is ususally booked from Saturday to Saturday. There is parking space for two cars. Visitors are requested to arrive after 3pm and leave before noon on the day of departure.
