A warm welcome awaits you at the Kelvin House Hotel, which is under the personal
supervision of the proprietors, Mr and Mrs Ian Holmes.
The hotel is an unpretentious traditional two-storey building on the village
main street, dating from about 1825. It is within easy distance of shops and
other local amenities.

The village of Glenluce is a pleasant and tranquil place located just off the
main A75 road, not far from the facinating coastline of Luce Bay and provides an
excellent location for exploring this unspoilt and little known area of South
West Scotland.
The hotel has six large bedrooms, tastefully decorated and equipped to provide
for your comfort and convenience. Most of the rooms are en suite, have
tea/coffee making facilities, colour television and individually controlled
central heating.
In our attractive lounge bar you can enjoy sampling a 'wee dram' from our wide
selection of blended and malt whiskies, or enjoy a pint from our interesting
range of cask conditioned ales. There are also a wide range of delicious bar
meals available at all times. The Cranachan Restaurant produces the finest
dishes which really serve you 'the taste of Scotland' using fresh local produce.

The hotel is happy to make guests' arrangements for all the local pursuits
available. The village is well placed to take advantage of nearby golf
facilities, shooting and sea angling. There are three 18 hole and two 9 hole
golf courses close by which charge very reasonable rates - discounts are
available at the local County Course to hotel guests. Shooting is available
subject to normal seasonal controls. The hotel can arrange grouse, deer,
pheasant, geese, duck and rough neck shooting if necessary and shooting parties
can be catered for, given sufficient notice in advance. Sea Angling is available
from Portpatrick, Port William, Garlieston and the Isle of Whithorn. Boats can
be hired locally, skippered by local men who know the waters well. River Angling
can be enjoyed on some of the finest rivers in Scotland, where salmon and sea
trout can be caught. Loch fishing is available providing for trout, carp and
course fishing.

Enjoy gardens of great botanical interest and beauty at Logan Gardens, Lochinch
Castle, Glenwhan and Ardwell. Further afield, the famous Threave Gardens can be
visited at Castle Douglas. The area is warmed by the Gulf Stream, which assures
a mild climate encouraging sub tropical flora and fauna to grow here.

Historically you will find that some of the oldest rocks in the country lie in
this part of Scotland, with Mesolithic and Iron Age remains, together with
Medieval abbeys and many other samples of unusual architecture.
