Our aim is to create a homely, informal and friendly atmosphere, to experience the timeless charm of Crow How, and to offer a comfortble retreat from day-to-day worries of life.

Nestling in a stunning, rural, setting this grand Victorian house was constructed originally as a farmhouse in 1880, and converted to a hotel over 60 years ago. There are few better sited hotels, located in peaceful seclusion within the beautiful Rydal Valley, yet only half a mile from Ambleside, and an ideal base for exploring all of Lakelands beauty and treasures.

Our two acre landscaped and woodland garden are surrounded by farmland with the Fairfield Horseshoe range of fells forming a magnificent backdrop. Unwind and take a stroll in the garden, there are few more agreeable places than the terrace to enjoy a drink and soak up the ambience of it all.

There are many activities to pursue, from walking, either picturesque strolls or challenging hikes, pony-trekking, golf and free fishing, to the more sedate leisure pursuits of croquet and the putting green. Free Leisure Club facilities are available at the Langdale Country Club. The club has a swimming pool, spa bath, sauna and steam room, squash courts, gym and beauty clinic with sunbeds, beauty treatments, massage and hairdresser.

Our nine individually furnished bedrooms have private facilities, colour television and hospitality trays. All have spectacular views.

We welcome guests to our home year after year to enjoy the attentive, personal service, friendly informality, complemented with fine food and wine. We pride ourselves on our food, all dinners are freshly prepared with the highest quality ingredients, and the menu changed daily. Our Cumbrian style breakfast will set you up for the day, as the fells beckon.

We offer a wide variety of weekend and mid week breaks, and our special breaks include bridge, chess, scrabble and house-parties, or breaks tailored to your individual needs.
