Great Weddington is situated just outside the village of Ash, near Canterbury, and has been the home of Neil and Katie Gunn for nearly 25 years.
The house, dating back to the early 19th century with fine Georgian features, is set in four acres of lovely gardens and paddocks and is surrounded by farmland. It is within easy reach of Canterbury, Dover and the Channel Tunnel at Folkestone.
As well as the attraction of the Cathedral in Canterbury, there are many other ancient buildings and places of interest to visit in the area.
The neighbouring Cinque Port of Sandwich is one of the most historic towns in the country and has many fine examples of Medieval buildings. The street plan has changed little since the time of Domesday in 1086.
The ruins of Richborough Castle are very close and Dover - only 20 minutes away for the ferry to France - has a magnificent castle, as has Walmer, near Deal, which is the Queen Mother's official residence as Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports.
There are also two beautiful gardens to visit in the summer at Goodnestone Park, home of Lord Fitzwalter, and at Walmer Castle.
Golf is a major activity in the area, with three Championship courses at Royal St Georges and Princes Golf Club in Sandwich and the Royal Cinque Port's Golf Club at Deal. There are several other very good courses of high quality not far away.
The house has an elegant drawing room, which leads off an imposing hallway, and a garden door that opens onto a pretty terrace where it is possible to sit for tea and drinks in the summer. There is also a hard tennis court that guests can use.
Accommodation consists of two twin/double bedrooms, one with en suite bathroom, the other with private shower, basin and toilet. Both rooms have colour television, radio and tea and coffee making facilities.
Dinner or a light supper can be provided by prior arrangement.
CHARGES: All charges are in UK pounds
Bed and breakfast from: 27.50 to 32.50 per person, based on two people sharing a twin or double room.
