The very weary 17th century traveller approaching the river crossing into the City of Oxford would surely have found The Old Horse a welcome sight. Since these early days when the hotel served those entering the city in its former role as a coaching Inn, many things have changed. However you may rest assured that the warmth of the welcome and the hospitality remain the same. The building is listed as being of historic and architectural interest and is believed to be of 16th century origin.

The hotel is located some 10 minutes walk from the centre of the City just beyond the world famous "High". The historic buildings of the City and the University are within easy reach and Magdalen College with its beautiful deer park is just across the river from the hotel.

Touring is a pleasure with grand houses such as Blenheim Palace, Waddesdon Manor, Warwick Castle and Winsor Castle contrasting with sleepy Cotswold villages. A visit to The Shakespeare Theatre at Stratford on Avon is always a rewarding experience.

At the hotel there is a large and secure car park at the rear of the building. The lounge with its wing armchairs offers a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere to enjoy a drink, or just to read and chat with friends. Light meals and snacks are served in the bar. There are numerous excellent restaurants adjacent to the hotel offering a wide range of styles and cuisine in addition to those in the city centre.
