Inverness is the capital of the Highlands. Over the last number of years Inverness has become even more famous with the films of Loch Ness, Braveheart and Rob Roy being filmed nearby. Inverness is one hour fifteen minutes by air from London. The train station is fifteen minutes from Acorn House.
Activities: Do your own monster spotting on a Loch Ness cruise.
Fishing: On some of the best salmon rivers in Scotland.
Golfing: On some of the most scenic links and inland courses in Scotland.
Historical: Culloden Battlefield, scene of 1745 Jacobite Rebellion. There are also some memories left of Oliver Cromwell. Visit Cawdor Castle, Urquhart Castle, Dunrobin Castle, Dunvegan Castle (Isle of Skye). Castle of Mey (residence of H.M.Queen Mother).
Skiing: Aviemore is some 35 minutes drive from Acorn House.
Walking: Many hills, Forest walks and the scenic Ness islands close by.
Whisky Trail: This is most interesting. Hic! Hic! Hic!
Woollen Mill Trail: See some of Scotlands produce - visit the local woollen mill.
Haggis Hunting: Depending on the season.
Theatre: Eden Court is a 2 minute walk from Acorn House.
Aquadome and Sports Centre: Within 5 minutes walking distance.
Dolphin Spotting & Cruising: In the Moray Firth.
