TAUNTON DEANE: Steeped in history, mystery and legend, from King Alfred to the Monmouth Rebellion, our locality is surrounded by some of the most attractive scenery in Somerset. To the south of Taunton Deane are the Blackdown Hills with their beautiful beech forests and to the north lie The Quantock Hills, famous for their herds of wild deer and breathtaking views. To the west, the gently rolling Brendon Hills merge with the fierce beauty of Exmoor and to the east, among the most unique features of Taunton Deane's landscape are the Somerset Levels and Moors. The Levels are one of the most important areas of 'wetland' left in Europe. As well as the beautiful scenery the area boasts a wide range of activities and attractions.

ACTIVITIES - Walking: You have a choice of gentle or more strenuous walks along the Taunton to Bridgewater Canal, The Quantocks, the local Blackdown forest trails and droves or you can venture further afield to Exmoor or the Devon/Dorset coast.
