Quietly situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Stockton on the Forest, just three miles from the historic city of York, Orillia House has been described as 'a luxury hotel in miniature'. It provides bed and breakfast accommodation with the emphasis on quality, comfort and personal service.
The house itself is over 300 years old and has been sympathetically restored, retaining many of its original features .......... including beamed ceilings, inglenook fireplace and old panelled doors.
Guests can enjoy all the charm and character of a country cottage but with all the comfort and convenience of modern day facilities. All bedrooms have shower or bath en suite, and are equipped with colour television and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities. We have a ground floor bedroom which is particularly suitable for elderly visitors or those who prefere to avoid climbing stairs. As you would expect in a house of this age, all our bedrooms are different, but all are attractively decorated and well furnished, each with its own individual character.
Orillia House is centrally heated and guests have open access at all times. There is good private parking within the grounds.
Excellent breakfasts are taken in our elegant dining room, which for the enjoyment of all, we keep as as a non smoking area.
Our restful lounge is the perfect place to sit and relax after a busy day's sightseeing. We keep a selection of maps and guides of the area to help you plan your holiday.
Stockton on the Forest makes an ideal base for seeing all of Yorkshire's countryside .... its rolling Wolds, dramatic Dales and open Moors. But begin your sightseeing with York, a truely magnificent city steeped in history with an almost endless list of attractions. Sample the sights, sounds and smell of Viking York at the Jorvik Centre, climb aboard a royal carriage at the National Railway Museum or walk along the tops of the medieval walls which surround the city. Incidentally, there is a frequent bus service to York from the village.
For those who enjoy the atmosphere of a country pub, we can recommend The Fox Inn, just a short stroll away, which serves a wide variety of meals and snacks. If you are on business in the area, then Orillia House will have particular appeal ...... a peaceful country retreat away from the bustle of towns and city ...... and presenting no car parking headaches.
