LOCATION: Dolphin is situated on the hills facing south about one mile from Ullapool and has outstanding views over Loch Broom. Access is from the A835 from Inverness (60 miles).

FACILITIES: The main part of this modern house has one double bedroom, three twin bedrooms and two single rooms with put-you-up and camp bed. There are two bathrooms with toilets, one separate toilet, a kitchen, living room with dining area and balcony overlooking the loch. One bathroom has an electric shower over a bath and one has a bath.

The separate self-contained flat has a living room with kitchen and dining area, two twin bedrooms and bathroom with toilet and electric shower over bath.

Both house and flat have access to a large fenced garden. Both premises have electric cookers and refrigerators and the house is provided with a washing machine, dishwasher, TV Video, washing machine and tumbledryer. Hot water and heating are provided by an oil-fired boiler and immersion heaters. Visitors are asked to bring their own bed linen, towels, bath mat and tea towels. Overseas visitors can be supplied these items at a small extra charge.

THE ULLAPOOL AREA: Ullapool provides a good selection of shops for most needs and the ferry to Stornoway (Isle of Lewis) sails throughout the year. During the summer months there are boat trips to the Summer Isles (birds and seals) and sea-fishing facilities. There are several restaurants reached by ferry across Loch Broom.

The area is one of outstanding natural beauty and ideal for walking, gentle or strenuous. Short car journeys (12 miles) take one to the Lael Forest Walk, Corrieshalloch Gorge and the food-for-free mussel beds at the head of Loch Broom. The same distance to the North is the Inverpolly Nature Reserve (Knockan Cliff Geological Nature Trail, ascent to the Stac Polly, 2009 feet). Further afield to the North is the spectacular coast road to Achilitibuie (Good Food Guide Restaurant, boats to Summer Isles, salmon fisheries and hydroponics station, smoked foods, and sea bathing) and Lochinver (fishing port, gentle walk to Falls of Kirkaig and wonderful views of the Sutherland mountains, including the bizarre Suilven). Fifty miles to the south are the magnificent and suprising sub-tropical gardens at Inverewe (National Trust).
