Duns lies just on the Scottish side of the border between Scotland and England. It is an excellent centre for touring, walking, fishing and cycling with most attractive countryside ranging from the flat farmland to the Lammermuir Hills, stretching north almost to Edinburgh, which can be reached in under an hour by car. The coast with its small fishing villages is only 15 miles away. The whole area is rich in history and has many stately homes, castles, museums and wild life parks. The main railway line from London to Edinburgh has a station at Berwick-upon-Tweed, which is only 16 miles away, and trains can usually be met by arrangement.
The romantic name of this byway in the town, has nothing to do with the sky, once it was merely "McLeods" place. The house built about 1789, is a Grade 2 historically listed building and used to be a manse when ministers lived in far greater style than now. The drawing room for instance, has alcoves and deep set windows and the Kenworthys have furnished this and all rooms appropriately. Your breakfast table will be laid with Wedgewood china and silver of the same period as the house. Breakfasts may comprise of something as hearty as kidneys and black pudding or herring oatmeal. All jams and marmarlade and often bread are home made.
