The island of Berneray lies just off the north tip of North Uist and is joined by causeway and a 70 minute ferry crossing to Harris. Berneray is five miles long by three miles wide and is a lovely fertile island with superb stretches of beautiful white sands ..... You must see it to believe it ...
There is a small active, friendly community of crofters, fishermen and knitters. This must be the ideal place for a peaceful relaxing holiday. With lovely sea views this detatched house has undergone complete renovation and refurbishment in 1990, to provide a comfortable, spacious and well equipped holiday home.
The accommodation comprises: Ground floor - one bedroom with double and single bed, kitchen/diner, living room and shower room with toilet and wash basin. First floor - one bedroom with double and single bed, one bedroom with double bed, one box room with single bed, bathroom with toilet and wash basin. Cot and high chair are available free of charge.
There is parking at the house for several cars. We will accept pets by arrangement only, and we can also arrange first night groceries in advance. The shops are about a mile either side of the house and the Post Office is about half a mile. There is public transport through North Uist and Lewis and Harris - timetables are available.
HOW TO FIND US
From Glasgow take the A82 Invergarry and then the A87 to Kyle of Lochalsh, cross the bridge to Kyleakin, (toll payable) in the Isle of Skye. Follow the A856 to Uig, the ferry port for the Western Isles. You will have to pre book with Cal Mac to travel on the Hebridean Isles for Lochmaddy on North Uist. Crossing time is 1 hour 45 minutes. When you come off the ferry at Lochmaddy, take the B893 for 10 miles, just follow the signs for Berneray All ferries to be booked with Cal Mac - telephone: 0990 650000.
