Affectionately known locally as the 'Middle House' the date stone above our front door testifies to 1734. We are situated in the middle of Reeth, capital of Swaledale, overlooking the Village Green with extensive views down the valley from most of the bedrooms and bar.

The hotel is of stone construction on three floors. The ground floor is home to our Inglenook Bar and Dining Room - a popular meeting place with an informal and relaxed atmosphere where locals and visitors exchange tales or gather to listen to our varied live music on Saturday evenings, near the large log burning inglenook fireplace.

A full bar and diner menu is offered seven days a week from 12 noon until 2.30pm and 6pm until 9.30pm. A snack menu is available between these times. Naturally we will try and ensure a meal is available later should you so wish on your day of arrival. We offer a large range of home made pies, salads, curries and game in season, freshly prepared by our resident chef.

Our nine bedrooms are situated on two floors and comprise of the following categories:

STANDARD: with wash hand basin, shower, colour television and tea and coffee making facilities.

SPECIAL: with newly appointed en suite facilities. All these sport antique brass beds and furnishings, colour television and tea and coffee making facilities.

SUPERIOR: the four poster room comprising of a bath, shower, toilet and hand basin, colour television and tea and coffee making facilities with truly magnificent views down the Swale Valley.

'A Jewel set in Heather', Reeth has a population of approximately 750 and is less than 15 miles from the A1 Motorway. It is situated on the slopes of Calver Hill and the beginning of Arkengarthdale in the heart of the National Park, and is well located for visiting the Lakes, North York Moors and East Coast. This picturesque village with its historic houses astride the green has all the ingredients for a perfect break.

Good walking (including the Coast to Coast path) can be found amidst magnificent scenery, caves and waterfalls. Fishing permits can also be obtained from the hotel. The River Swale is also famous for its beauty and there are many well-signed walks along its banks.

Visit the historic Castles of Richmond (11 miles), Castle Bolton, Middleham and Jervauix Abbey. Travel west over Tail Brig to the Market town of Kirby Stephen, south over the Buttertubs Pass to Hawes or north over the Stang to Barnard Castle.
