THE HOTEL

You will find the Cnoc Hotel nestling in the beautiful countryside of Strathfarrar and close to Glen Affric, 20 miles from Inverness.

Our guests are able to take advantage of a wide range of activities. Salmon and trout fishing are available on the Beauly, Glass and Farrar rivers or on the many fine lochs in the area. Shooting and stalking are also available locally, as well as a nine-hole golf course within four miles, at Aigas.

The Cnoc Hotel was once part of the Erchless Castle Estate, the former seat of the Clan Chisholm. Four estate cottages were converted into a comfortable eight bedroomed hotel. Rooms are all en suite, centrally heated, with tea making facilities, radio alarms and hairdryers. A cot can be provided if required, as can outside kennels.

We have a bar and a cosy residents lounge. Dinner is served in the dining room, with the menu changing daily, offering delicious cooking, using fresh produce whenever possible. For those wishing something less substantial, there is a bar menu.

THE SURROUNDING AREA

Walkers will enjoy Glen Affric, Glen Cannich or Glenstrathfarrar - a lovely glen, running up to the Monar Dam through large areas of the Caledonian Pine Forest. "Munro Bagging" is on our doorstep and there are many other areas within easy driving distance for all grades of walkers.

The surrounding area also offers much to interest the naturalist and ornithologist (golden eagle can be seen at the head of Glenstrathfarrar). Migrating salmoon can be watched at the Aigas Dam Fish Lift on River Beauly.

Beauly is the nearest town with its ancient Priory and "Made in Scotland" a centre which exhibits and sells a wide range of high quality Scottish craft. Just to the north of Beauly is Muir of Ord with its own distillery and golf course - visitors are welcome at both. Scotland's premier 'Winery' at Moniack Castle is on the A862 between Beauly and Inverness. It has built up a fine reputation for its wines, liquers, mead, preserves and pickles.

The motorist will find the Hotel is an ideal centre for touring. Easy day trips from the Hotel include:

For those arriving by air at Dalcross Airport or train to Inverness, we can arrange a car and driver from a local company, for those who do not wish to taxi or hire a self-drive car.
