A Victorian Villa built in 1861, Callater Lodge Hotel stands in over an acre of ground, surrounded by attractive lawns and a mature copse of pine and birch. The hotel is located just a few hundred yards from the centre of the pretty village of Braemar in beautiful Royal Deeside. Balmoral Castle and Glenshee ski slopes are also nearby. There is ample parking space.

Maria & Michael Franklin take great care to ensure that their guests have a relaxing and enjoyable stay and have built an enviable reputation for their attentive hospitality, excellent cuisine and comfortable accommodation. All rooms have en suite private bathrooms, colour television and tea & coffee making facilities.

The open fire in the lounge and central heating throughout mean that no matter what time of the year, the welcome is always warm. The hotel has a residential licence. It also has a drying room for guests use.

Smoking is permitted, but not in public areas.

Breakfast offers a choice of porridge or other cereals, a grill tray or fish, or continental breakfast. The dinner menu changes every, using a variety of fresh local produce to provide four mouth watering courses. Packed lunches are also available.

Apart from pure mountain air and beautiful scenery, Braemar has much to offer visitors as a base from which to explore Royal Deeside. Leisure activities include golf, fishing, walking, hillwalking, skiing and shooting. A good base for touring, nearby there are historic castles, houses and distilleries to visit. The world famous Braemar Gathering and Highland Games, which started in 1832, are held on the first Saturday of September. Queen Victoria visited the Highland Games in 1848 and rarely a year has passed since when the reigning sovereign has not attended.
