Mayfields is a deceptively spacious and charming small guest house, situated on the southern fringe of Grange-over-Sands, with views across Morecombe Bay, and close to open country with lots of opportunities for walking; yet only two minutes from the main shopping centre and two mile long, traffic-free promenade, with various recreation facilities - bowls, putting, tennis, children's play area, promenade cafe.
Guests are assured of a very warm welcome from Kate and Michael Thorburn, who will personally take care of your every need, to help make your stay at Mayfields an enjoyable and memorable one.
The house is comfortably furnished and equipped to a high standard. The Residents' lounge is spacious and airy with colour television, video and a splendid piano, if you are a musician. The room looks out over Morcambe Bay to Heysham in the south east and to Arnside Knott in the north east.
In the dining room you will enjoy generous traditional home cooking, really substantial breakfasts and superb dinners in the evenings. Luncheon is available most days on request.
Mayfields accommodates only five guests in three bedrooms: one single with shower, one double fully en suite and one twin bedded room fully en suite. All the bedrooms have colour television, facilities for making hot drinks, hair dryer etc. All three rooms are beautifully appointed.
There is private parking to the rear for guests' cars and safe on-street parking and public car parks nearby.
We have a table license for the sale of alcoholic drinks.
Grange-over-Sands is a pleasant Edwardian resort town, very conveniently situated on the shore of Morecambe Bay, an ideal centre from which to explore places of interest in Cartmel and Furness Peninsulas. Particularly notable is Cartmel, with its magnificent 12th century Priory Church.
The delights of the Lake District are also close at hand. We are only six miles from the foot of Windermere and Beatrix Potter's beloved countryside.
The countryside is indeed extremely beautiful, whatever the weather and each season has its own particular charm. We feel sure that you will fall in love with this delightful area, if you have not already done so!
We have a policy of NO SMOKING in the house for both health and safety reasons, and are also unable to accept any animals on the premises.
