High Swinside nestles in a peaceful location on the lower slopes of Swinside Fell, above the picturesque village of Lorton in the Lake District National Park. Its south west facing aspect provides guests with an idyllic and spectacular panoramic view. Originally a working Lakeland farm, Swinside now offers a tranquil escape from the rush of the modern world, yet is still only a short drive away from some of the lakeland's most popular destinations such as the lakes of Loweswater, Buttermere and Crummock, and the bustling market towns of Keswick and Cockermouth. Swinside offers you the perfect base from which to explore the northern and western lakes and is the ideal all-year centre for walking, climbing and enjoying fresh lakeland air. High Swinside was where Jennings started brewing beer in the 1850's

Swinside provides you with three comfortable, well equipped, family run self-catering cottages, each with wonderful views and modern facilities. The owners, Jacques & Hilary Hankin, live in the adjacent converted barn and are on hand to assist and help you with any problems or questions you need answering. The farm opens directly onto open fellside to the rear, so you can set off walking without even geting into your car, and for the less energetic, there is always that view to be looked at or the ducks to be fed!

SWINSIDE FARMHOUSE: Sleeps 8

Ground floor: Large comfortable sitting room with colour television and open fire. Kitchen with electric cooker, microwave and fridge. Large dining area with original farmhouse pine dining table. Shower room with toilet. Single downstairs bedroom.

First floor: Large double bedroom. Large bedroom with double and single beds. Bedroom (sloping ceiling) with twin beds. Bathroom with wash basin and toilet. The house is full of character with a wealth of oak beams. Wonderful views from all the rooms. Heating is by oil fired boiler, fuel included in price.

SWINSIDE COTTAGE: Sleeps 5

Swinside Cottage was built onto the side of the farmhouse in the late nineteenth century as a residence for the farm worker. Retaining many of the original features, Swinside Cottage provides a very comfortable and attractively furnished base for your holiday.

Ground floor: Entrance porch. Spacious lounge with open fire, colour television. Modern kitchen with fridge, electric cooker and microwave; dining area.

First floor: Bathroom with toilet. Bedroom with double bed, ensuite shower and toilet. Bedroom with twin beds. Single bedroom. Night storage heaters on ground and first floor. Electricity is by meter, approximate weekly cost is 15.00 depending on usage.

LITTLE SWINSIDE: Sleeps 2 to 4

First floor: Because of the wonderful panoramic views, the living accommodation is on the first floor. Living room with dining area, colour television. Double bedroom. Bathroom with overhead shower and toilet. Kitchen with electric cooker and microwave.

Ground floor: Sun Lounge and bed-sette available, most suited for younger persons. French windows leading onto patio overlooking the garden.

ALL PROPERTIES: Duvets and all bed linen is provided and cots are available on request. Electricity is by one pound coin meters. There is parking space next to each cottage. Fuel for fires is included in price. We have a laundry room with washing and drying facilities.

We welcome children. You are invited to share our garden with its stream and magnificent views. We have two small ponds that are home to our fish and ducks. We look forward to welcoming you to our farm and helping you to enjoy one of England's most beautiful palces.
